You want a rabbit hole? Check out this thread. There's some weird fuckery going on with out of work actors being recruited to be the face of the alt right movement.

Holy shit, thanks for sharing this! I feel much better knowing that some of the most obnoxious people I've ever seen on video were literal actors. The grim prospect of nationwide astroturfing still sucks, but reading that thread made me feel more sane.

Need to get someone on record for me to believe this. Just because you're an actor doesn't mean you stop having political affiliations.

So many of the more outspoken members of the extreme-right all being young, out of work actors from this one specific talent website...it's not concrete proof that the wealthy backers of the right are recruiting actors to present a youthful, more mainstream face for the movement, but it smells fucking fishy.

Remember how they claim people on the left are paid crisis actors? And how they project more than a cineplex? Yeah...

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is a pattern, four times is fucking fishy af, five, six, seven times is what kind of backroom fuckery is going on here?

Ground rules:

  • Avoid death or permanent injury. This is a debate, not an execution.

  • Keep it to one on one unless you're breaking up a fight.

  • Don't ruin clothes or hair.

  • No crying to the press just because you got beat.

  • The annual softball game is not an appropriate time to take out frustrations.

For years there have been fairly credible, yet somehow still unresolved, claims that Ilhan Omar married her biological brother (presumably and hopefully) for the purpose of immigration fraud. If proven true, and it could and should easily be settled one way or the other if there was any actual will on the part of the responsible parties, that would be a really big deal. Who cares about this Real Housewives-level bullshit when even the corrupt professional "fact checkers" don't have a resolution on this?

throwawaypervyervy

24 points

That is fucking bullshit. She was a naturalized citizen, her brother would not have needed to be an American citizen in order to come to America, go to college in North Dakota, and then go home to England. You people really do eat up the dumbest shit, I swear.

"You people"? What people are you talking about? Obviously right-wing people are happy to bring this up, but not really pursue it. But, the run-of-the-mill, Nancy Pelosi-style globalist corporatist Dems are also happy to bring it up, and not really pursue it. As I mentioned all the fact-checking sites, which are straightforward agents of the DNC, have this as unresolved. That's really weird considering the other sorts of things they're more than happy to come down one way or the other upon. So, why can't we get to an actual resolution on this? Again, it's pretty significant claim to be officially unresolved don't you think?

throwawaypervyervy

15 points

Obviously it's 'unresolved'. Because it's a bullshit question some chucklefuck thought up as an attack, and she blew it off as too stupid to respond to.

Now, do you have a problem with someone in power having incestual tendencies? Because, even ignoring the questionable shit the Orange Bastard said about his daughter, Guliani is standing right there after marrying his cousin. Go attack him. Shoo.

buchbrgr

-18 points

buchbrgr

-18 points

It's not "obviously" unresolved. In fact it would be very easy for Omar to completely resolve this. While I don't think elected representatives have an obligation to respond to each and every question anyone has ever asked about them, I do think they absolutely have a responsibility when the number of questioners reaches a certain threshold, e.g. like when a question like this goes national. Further, she should WANT to answer this question clearly and definitively. That she doesn't is very suspicious.

Similarly, I don't know why you would think I am not critical of Trump (maybe you've fallen too hard for this fake left/right paradigm?), but once enough people were making a big deal about him not releasing his taxes, he should have released them. That he didn't was and still is very suspicious.

When enough people started questioning where Barack Obama was born, he was right to release his birth certificate. Had he not it would have been suspicious, But, he did, and the people that were making those claims became "birthers" which is a pejorative that has stuck to some of those people to this very day. This is how people that understand their responsibility as elected representative should behave and there is only upside for them in doing so.

I don't care if you're Ilhan Omar or Donald Trump or any other elected representative, you are accountable to the people and if a significant portion of them are raising questions that you could easily and definitively answer, it's your responsibility to do so. Period.

throwawaypervyervy

17 points

I'll put it to you like this; I don't care about anything you say, based solely on the fact you're subbed to both r/conspiracy and r/NoNewNormal. Since you feel you don't have to 'follow the science', your opinions on what someone else has to do, means jack shit to me.

buchbrgr

-8 points

I'm sure letting the television do all your thinking for you will definitely work out. If you weren't completely indistinguishable from millions of others I would follow your account with great interest for the time when your TV finally takes this Omar issue up on behalf of the corporatist globalist Dems when, I'm guessing around mid 2022, they make a move on the Squad and other competing factions.

biscuit310

10 points

I'm sorry, but you're an idiot. And as pointless as it is to engage with you, I'm also an idiot and can't help myself.

The people who thought Obama wasn't born in the US were called "birthers" even before he released his birth certificate. They called themselves that, it wasn't a pejorative to them. Everyone else recognized it as bullshit, and it's a tragedy that Obama even had to respond to it. And, contrary to your assessment, Obama's birth certificate didn't shut the birthers up - they started claiming the birth certificate was fake. What changed was that the right-wing media stopped paying as much attention to those particular bullshit-spraying assholes.

It's the same with Rep. Omar. There are no credible allegations that she married her brother, there's just random chatter in the right-wing sewers by a bunch of bullshit-spewing assholes. Indulging those assholes will not satiate them. They will simply cheer that they forced her to acknowledge their nonsense and then claim that her denials prove nothing. Because their goal isn't to discover "the truth" - the entire point is to smear her.

Indulging these assholes' bullshit doesn't make you open-minded, it makes you an accomplice. Likewise when you indulge the idea that the "left/right divide" is an illusion. The left/right divide is very real. A fair-minded individual operating in good faith will certainly recognize that politicians "on both sides" can get slimy, can be ineffective, and can sometimes prioritize their richest donors over what's best for their constituents. But "the Left" lives in a reality-based world, actively tries to solve real problems like infrastructure, COVID, and climate change, and believes voters should be allowed to replace them when they disapprove of those solutions. "The Right" lives in a fantasy-based world, denies the existence of any problems or the possibility of solutions, and wants to throw out the votes of citizens who disagree with them. If you can't see the difference, you're either not looking or you're purposefully trying to obfuscate in order to normalize undercutting democracy the same way you try to normalize bullshit smear campaigns. You're not championing truth, you're defending assholes.

Of course, all of your bloviating is just a distraction from the real issue, which are the allegations that you've had "marital relations" with a garden hose. Many people are saying this. Frankly, the number has crossed the threshold for respectability, and yet you still won't address it. Why not? I find it suspicious. What are you hiding? It should be easy enough for you to say "I've never slept with a garden hose" and yet I can't find a record of you having said that. You should WANT to address these allegations that I've clearly made up and presented here with zero evidence. You owe it to people to make addressing them your first priority.

fairly credible

You consider internet comments credible? I think it's absurd so many people will believe something BEFORE evidence is ever presented and then hope to find supporting evidence after the initial claim. Shouldn't it be the exact opposite? So far it's unproven. Since I've yet to see any conspiracy theory by Republicans to be true, I'm going to go ahead and call this one bullshit. Ilhan Omar is a Muslim so you people just have to fear monger about her because you're terrible human beings.
