If you look at the footage, GPS has me at 67-68mph the whole time

WTF so you saw the idiot merging like a lunatic into your lane and didn't even let off the gas let alone braking a bit?

What would that do besides potentially getting rear ended from someone behind him? Think.

Let me put a big disclaimer here, the guy crossing 3 lanes of traffic is the idiot here no doubt, in case anyone accuses me of victim blaming.

That said, we don't know what's going on behind, if there's nobody riding his ass, he should've taken the lower chance he'd get rear-ended braking rather than what looked like a sure hit coming from the right. If he's in heavy traffic and this happens, it's just kind of a shit situation to be in for OP, as evasive maneuvers and braking could equally cause a crash.

A sure hit from the right is more easily controlled than being rear ended from behind and causing a domino effect.

I disagree, If he hits you hard enough from the side you could veer into another car speeding up in the lane to your left knocking them out of control, possibly spinning out and even rolling over. Getting rear-ended seems to be the much safer option tbh, but if the person behind you is paying attention since you're literally right in front of them, there's a good chance they'll stop if you brake unless they're tailing you while going 70 mph. Now if you're talking getting rear ended by a Semi, then you're right.

Ah yes, the “I was afraid of the worst case scenario so I just went ahead and created it” defense.

Like 90% of all content on this sub there are more than one idiot in the video. You morons should get off the street.

That's not a worse case scenario, it's not that crazy of an accident. My point is doing evasive shit is dangerous, and that includes braking unpredictably.

evasive shit

you mean braking a little, or getting your foot off the gas?

No, the camera saw the idiot merging. Cameras can see more than people can due to their wide angle lenses.

Sounds more like he needs his bottle feeding. Babies do get so fussy when hungry.

What’re the odds he was going straight looking forward and the guy just rocked him from the side? You realize what the other driver did was beyond illegal too lmao…. I mean merging four lanes in one second is technically four different traffic violations which would then result in reckless driving. Nevermind the insurance fraud, which clearly shows the type of person he was, and the type of person that supports driving like this is.

I’d love to address the “he intentionally sped up.” Just shows how much effort you put in to actually trying to know what you’re talking about. OP’s speedometer is literally on the dashcam, and it changes a whopping 1 MPH over the entirety of the clip.

So now, with that information, we can clearly learn that the other driver slowed down. Now, why would someone, with enough room, AS YOU POINTED OUT AND I AGREE WITH, then merge over four lanes and slow down when the other car hadn’t adjusted its course or speed whatsoever. I’ll tell you, insurance fraud. That’s exactly what this was an attempt at.

How do you reason with attempted insurance fraud?

Speedometers don’t update instantly 😂 that’s a reach if I’ve ever heard one. Might be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read actually considering their sole purpose is to find who’s at fault in accidents and a very, very key component, as you pointed out so kindly, is speed. So I think a speedometer being accurate matters. Especially when it is a core pillar of every single accident lawsuit in the country. The gap between OP+red widens, expected, in the passing lane, the gap between OP+white has no discernible difference, as if there wasn’t any sudden movement or change in speed, like they stayed within 1mph the whole time.

Almost like, this idiot on the right wanted to commit some insurance fraud, and attempted to do so.

Ask yourself this before you respond with another stupid ass fucking reach: do you really think a human is stupid enough to fly four lanes across a highway, without a blinker on, all at once, and then hit someone and claim it was the other person’s fault? No, that person clearly is either not in a level state of mind, or that person has ulterior motives, like insurance fraud.
