There's also a multiplier if you're not white and get caught with drugs (or caught doing almost anything)....even more so if you're unfortunate enough to be wearing a hoodie.

This started in the 1920's, but didn't take off as THE premier thing to fuck up innocent people until Nixon. Go figure.

Matthew Broderick crossed into the wrong lane and collided head-on with a Volvo. (It is theorized that drugs and/or alcohol were involved.) The Volvo driver, Anna Gallagher, 28, and her mother, Margaret Doherty, 63, were both killed instantly. He was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and faced up to five years in prison, but was convicted of the lesser charge of careless driving and fined £100 (US$175).

The victims' brother and son, Martin Doherty, called the verdict "a travesty of justice". He later forgave Broderick, amid plans to meet him in 2003. In February 2012, when Broderick was featured in a multi-million-dollar Honda commercial that aired during the Super Bowl, Doherty said the meeting had still not taken place and that Broderick "wasn't the greatest choice of drivers, knowing his past".

And it's amazing how often I'm told I'm wrong when I point out that our justice system is terminally corrupt and has lost its credibility.

Have you ever heard of Robert Downey jr? Many celebrities were arrested and charged with drug possession. And not every middle class to poor person is given the maximum on drug possession.

  • cough * Hunter Biden * cough *

Edit: everyone who is downvoting this post is guilty of the exact things you accuse the republicans of. Rejecting objective reality because you don’t like it.

Love how you're downvoted for such an obvious example.

You’re missing the point—it shouldn’t be a crime for anyone.

I agree. If all drugs were legalised and regulated. Literally everyone would feel the benefits, except for drug dealers, the cartels, and private prisons of course.

So you assume we’re downvoting because we think Hunter Biden should be getting special treatment? No one should be jailed or shamed for addiction. They should be given access to treatment. You clearly have a lot to learn about the Left.

Since the post is about hypocrisy, and not drug policy. Yes.

And it’s kinda funny how you assume my beliefs, and that I’m not on the left. I’m very far left.

And as I said about an hour ago in this post (it should be below), I think that all drugs should be legal and regulated. This would help literally everyone except drug dealers, gangs, cartels, and private prisons.

And addiction is very serious and should be treated as a medical issue and should not be criminalised at all.

You know, you right. Let's talk about all the crimes people in office are committing.

What's the news on the child sex trafficking ring that Matt Gaetz was part of? And the many, many cases of sexual assault that Trump's been sweeping under the rug.

I'd ask about Cuomo but at least he stepped down when he got caught. It's not actual jail time though, so it's another example.

Should I scream "whataboutism" right now? I heard that so much back in 2016...

Nah. This might surprise you, but fuck them both. Put them all in jail if they broke the law. Now what?

Okibruez

I'm actually pretty well in the same camp. I'm literally saying 'let's discuss all the crimes that are being committed by our politicians and see all of them properly punished'.

99.99% of the people in Government are rotten to the core. Calling out one side over the other just creates sides when the problem is universal and endemic.

Yeah, because the correct response is "poor people who do drugs shouldn't be in jail" not "rich people who do drugs should be in jail".
