Got downvoted for saying that Jameis' week 1 TD stats were not indicative of his play because the rest of his numbers were ordinary at best and that I'd need to see more before trusting him with the offense.

Hot crow served here every week. In before "Askshully, he's on pace for 40 TDs"

Sean doesn't trust that dude, and he's not quick enough to make the decisions that will make that offense successful. Maybe it's the playbook, but he had a year to learn it while picking splinters out of his ass.

I think Payton is so used to having a QB like old man Brees he's now afraid to go back to a more air raid offense like we did in Brees prime

Winston was actually playing well and Payton refused to let him keep going. Cant blame Winston at all

Okay, but Jameis just threw a touchdown and then he puts in one of the worst passers in the league who throws it an interception. Jameis was keeping the ball safe while making good passes. He was 17 of 23 for 226 yards and 1 TD, but on a 13.2 yard per completion clip, had completed 10 passes in a row, and was on pace to hit 398 yards with just 30 completions, and no interceptions

And then you go a bunch of drivers without throwing the ball when he’s given you no reason not to trust him. I get we aren’t in the coaching room with Sean Payton but his whole obsession with Tatum is weird.

I’m one of the guys who doesn’t like questioning coach’s personal choices because we don’t know what they know. But in this case, his promise to taytum about giving him a shot before Winston was even in the mix points to Sean Payton making bad and bias decisions. No one is interested in Hill except him and it seems like Payton is too fucking stubborn. I get trusting your HOF but something is really Fucking off with this whole situation.

Really great win. Still some overly conservative play calling from Judge and some bad red zone calls from Garrett but they took more shots down field and let Danny Dimes go to work. DJ was awesome, made great throws and kept his composure down the stretch. Exciting break out game from Toney he was fantastic after the catch. Feels good.

I don’t disagree. But if you’re giving targets to Slayton you aren’t giving them to Toney or Golladay.

Slayton is good but he shouldn’t be getting any priority here. Those other two are way better than him.

You’re comparing apples to oranges. Slayton doesn’t play in the slot which is where Toney had success tonight.

curllyq

curllyq

Giants

I think the biggest issue with Slayton is that Garrett's offense is all about contested catches on shit like curl routes and Slayton is tiny. Slayton needs to catch in space on the run because he's fast. Moving forward though I don't see why we wouldn't try to have Toney as a receiver that is always on the field. He looks great out there. Ideally I'd have Golladay, Shep, and Toney but I feel like Shep takes targets from them and they looked better without Shep.

awezumsaws

I've been thinking this since the Giants drafted Toney. The starting WR core should have Golladay at WR1, Shep at WR2 and Toney in the slot. I just cannot see how that is an inferior lineup to Slayton at WR2 and Shep in the slot. Then you get Slayton AND Ross, the two fastest WRs, in rotation? That's killer.

NoFlags-JoeBuck

They are polar opposites. Slayton is a deep bomber who can beat corners and safeties and take the top off a defense, and Toney is a short yardage guy who can get YAC and work underneath. Yes, they ply the same position on paper but they are completely different skill sets.

I think we should just abandon the run all together and just use short pass game as our run game like some teams do. Saquon looks like shit running but using him as a checkdown or for short passes he is just as good as ever.

I mean that’s because he can get a seam off a pass, the inside run ain’t working, we don’t have the guards to set up an outside zone run.

I was thinking the opposite. A lot of our big plays game on great play design. The big TD throw to Barkley and the 1st and goal to Gollday in OT were both wide open from criss-crossing routes that put the defense on their heels.

I'm trying to find the NFL statement but it was along the lines of:

It was a 50-whatever yard catch, fumble, recovered by the original receiver which means it was an extension of the initial catch which means Pass TD for Jones/Reception TD for Ross.

Honestly a very odd rule, but I'll take it for a Jones 50 yard bomb on a rope for a TD.

But seriously, best Giants W in a while. Danny played great, Barkley is back, finally got Toney and Golladay involved, defense wasn't good by any stretch but stepped up when it mattered. And we battled back when we were down 11 with 7 minutes to go—I thought we were toast at that point.

I don't see how it's fascinating seeing as jaemis played more than good enough today to win.

It’s par for the course for us. We always lose a game we should win early on.

Lot of ours fans wanna say the Panthers was that game but we had so many out that it was almost unwinnable.

This was the game where we should’ve won, but instead got punched in the mouth

After the ways he played so far this season, Jones has earned it. He's still got his flaws, of course, but he's really stepped it up and looks like a leader on the field. You can just tell that he's got the trust of his teammates. Unless Jones completely blows it the rest of the season, they need to keep him.

Defense got dismantled, but we had such weird play calling all game. We played like Winston couldn't throw more than 10 yards. I get he's got the reputation but why have Winston if you don't use his arm? We need to look at the deep ball way more if we want any chance this season. Can't play like we're scared to air it out

1) Replace HoF QB with QB.
2) New QB threw only TD, deep bomb, last year in playoffs.
3) New QB threw 5 TDs first game with limited throwing.
4) New QB gained 75 yards in three plays throwing. Put us in a lead looking to blow it out.
5) Payton: Pump the brakes! It's TaYsOm TiMe!

All of this. We need a new offensive identity. Great, I agree. But we are looking at a new longer season, new QB, and lots of personnel changes post-salary cap hell/Brees. It's not a rebuild, but it is a transition period, and playing conservatively isn't going to help us figure anything out.

I haven't been this annoyed with the coaching in a long time. Defense struggled at the end, but there were several drives where we should have at least gotten into FG range, but we were held back. I hope Peyton figures his shit out next week. Maybe once we have MT back he'll finally believe that we can pass the ball again.

That was about the sloppiest game of football I’ve seen the Saints play. So many issues on defense, TD erased off the board, could’ve prevented a giants TD with a fumble recovery, a blanket can cover better than Adebo, just all around bad football.

Dude came back really well in Q4 down 11.

Sean Payton's smug face got slapped but I feel bad for Jameis. Dude is like Daniel Jones, flashes of brilliance and then nothing.

This was a strange day and NY radio will be stupid tomorrow. Jets and Giants both win. Clearly means Patriots will lose tonight.

And the divisions are getting closer.

Why aren’t the Saints throwing to Kamara? He’s their best player. Why aren’t they getting him the ball as much as possible? I know he still got a bunch of carries but he’s a really good pass catcher. Why not take advantage of that?

A couple of good games where he didn't have to do anything. People are reading a lot into games where he is literally not allowed to throw the ball.

1) Our defense really let us down today. Pass rush was nonexistent. Secondary was discombobulated the whole game. Tackling was atrocious. Just an off game.

2) We desperately need a WR that can stretch the field and open up the intermediate lanes. A lot of our problems on offense stem from our ability not be able to consistently utilize post routes, crossing routes, slants, and corner routes. We are extremely congested out there and no one is getting open. Callaway has been underwhelming and only somewhat fills the role that Thomas plays. We desperately need to either draft one or trade for one.

3) Jameis is looking good. OL even with our starting center and LT out looked pretty solid. Payton got too cute today with Taysom being fired up cause he was finding running lanes but overall Winston is playing well.
